HE DID IT AGAIN THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT INTERVIEW THAN THE FIRST ONE AND HE SAID THE EXACT SAME WORDS AS IN THE FIRST.
"OLIVER HAS ONE WOMAN THIS YEAR. THAT WOMAN IS FELICITY".
AND WHEN ASKED IF FELICITY IS THE ‘LONG-GAME’ HE SMILED HIS OLICITY/FELICITY/EBR SMILE AND SAID ” WHO’S TO SAY?”
STARTS AT 4:36
and the rest of the interview is really gr9 too but man the fact that he said the same thing in 2 different interviews really shows that he meant what he said and it wasn’t just him wording it wrong or whatever. I mean WE all knew that but yea. Anyways. *flailing*
Yeah yeah yeah but 3:30 "Oliver doesn’t drink. It’s almost a fight I have with the producers. In my head, Oliver doesn’t drink."
And, like, that’s true. We may have seen him drinking in Verdant a few times in s1 but, like, did he drink at all on screen in season 2? I can’t even picture it. People hardly have him drink in fanfic either, except wine with Felicity.
…On the shippy stuff, I think we’re going to have Oliver full-on repeat his “I love you” comment. It seems like the Amell and the writers are being unequivocal on his feelings, and that lack of feeling is not going to be the main obstacle for Olicity this season.
He drank several times in “Keep Your Enemies Closer” (2x06, with Anatoly and Isabel). Maybe I’m reading too much into this (who me?) but maybe there’s an association of his drinking with the mistake of sleeping with Isabel, and the fallout thereafter. That’s sort of fascinating.
WOO other people are analyzing the drinking thing as much as I am! I find this concept absolutely fascinating, and it intrigues me that Amell has such a strong headcanon about it… I mean, the obvious thing would be to say that Oliver has a rational fear of letting his guard down, so the idea of choosing to lower his own inhibitions would not be very appealing. When it comes to being in control of his own person, he relies on having complete cognition of the situation, so he doesn’t let himself consume alcohol because it’s counterproductive. But let’s look at this a little deeper (cause why not). From a more psychological standpoint, he probably associates alcohol with his youth and ‘mistakes of his past’, etc. Maybe not even mistakes, but just decisions that he no longer is able to understand and justify. Electing to not drink may be an attempt to segregate Ollie from Oliver, or even to dissociate the Arrow from who he was before he took on the burden of his crucible. He doesn’t want to revert back from how far he’s come, because he has respect for his journey, and in order to do that he must maintain the discipline that he’s learned over the years. Obviously all of this is moot since we’ve seen him drink on screen (Effie, I love the Isabel thing!), but it’s sort of interesting to look into regardless, especially since the actor feels so strongly about it.
He also ordered a drink in 2x08 while Felicity was dancing with Barry, and Isabel came to join him.
I’m sensing a pattern here….
yeah he also does a shot in the pilot, doesn’t he??? at the party in front of tommy when he stands on the table and lets everyone know he’s totally still down to get funky, guys, for real
but no there’s no fucking way, if he did drink/do drugs (lbr, he did drugs) as often as it’s implied he did pre-island, that he didn’t go through withdrawal when he was on the island. and considering how controlled he is, how important it is to him that he doesn’t ever bare his neck to the wrong person accidentally, i absolutely 100% agree with amell here that he very, very rarely drinks, and when he does, he never gets drunk, and even then it’s either in moments of weakness, or a deliberate thing designed to throw people off the scent, keep up a certain image, i.e. every time he drinks at verdant in s1

How are people so creative and artsy, and how can I be them
"how do you feel about that relationship?" “i’m glad that viewers who felt like maybe they were faked out, they are getting their full resolution. was he telling the truth, was he lying? you have to wait one more episode. i’m sorry that it’s in october, but you get a full… you get a full explanation as to what that meant.” (x)
